Adebimpe by O'nezer
Episode 3
"Just watch me and the other girls and do what we do" Joke whispered to Bimpe as she and three other girls including Bimpe tip toed out of the hostel.
"That was a good one" Joke said.
"But I'm scared this girl would shatter our plans o!" Benita who had been curious about taking Bimpe along lamented
"What if she foils our plan and expose us to the whole school" Benita continued.
"Let's be calm and positive about this. We were once new to it just like her" Joke encouraged the crew as they helped Bimpe up the school fence that had been broken down a bit by them.
"I don't feel comfortable with everything that happened last night" Bimpe complained almost in tears.
"Don't worry, you will soon get used to it" Joke said almost absentmindedly as she discussed the new guy she met in the club with them.
"So there will still be a next time?" Bimpe felt like screaming the house down.
Bimpe now became worried. She felt bad she didn't get the love she craved for in a school mother from Joke. She felt her life falling apart after the second night with guys making advances at her and blowing the smoke of cigarettes into her face
"You need to grow up" one of them had said smacking her back side.
"Is this how to grow up?" Bimpe lamented bitterly on her bed. She recalled Joke telling her no backing out and she felt bitter the more. Bimpe felt bad for secluding herself from her old friends. She missed Nike so badly "but I can't go back to her" Bimpe whispered silently.
The school Junior WAEC was soon over and for the first time in a long while, Bimpe felt elated to be at home "I think it's better watching the trouble from my dad than becoming a trouble myself" Bimpe smiled as she hugged her Mum.
Home was unusually calm and everything went peacefully for the first two weeks at home "I'm glad things are changing" Bimpe told Bola her Mum.
"My dear, not like things are changing, but your dad beat me to a pulp and I was in the Hospital unconscious for almost two weeks" Bola sighed.
"After that, I charged your father to Court and his parents were in support of it. A charge was given him that any day he lays his hands upon me again he would be arrested."
"Woow!!! That's better!" Bimpe exclaimed.
"Though we still fight, but no more beating" Bola gave a wry smile.
Life at home was relaxing for Bimpe. She would spend the day in her mother's shop and had some nights seeing the News with her father who was still somewhat haughty towards everyone.
"That's the worst you can do" Bimpe would smile sheepishly
"Keep frowning. It won't change anything" She always felt like laughing out loud whenever she said so.
Bimpe was now more free at home. Her mum noticed the change but felt she was growing. Bimpe on the other hand had tried to talk to her mum severally but she was either cooking or busy with some work.
Bimpe nursed this burden for so long "I only want to understand what it means to grow up" she would groan each time her mum turns her down
"And daddy is a Titan that no one can confront" she finally gave up on talking to her parents about it.
Bimpe resumed to SS 1. It was a swell time as she sat in class on the first lesson day. They were about 25 in class. She went for Art class while Sophia, her one time friend moved to science class.
Bimpe was always a bright student. Even with the issues she faced at home and the bully at schools she still maintained her brilliancy.
Everyone had suggested science for her but she was passionate about becoming a Lawyer "I must study Law come what may" she often said.
