Happy Child Episode 10 (finale)

HAPPY CHILD with many sorrows

Episode Ten (Finale)

"Where are you going from here?" Lois asked as she was also ready to leave for her place. Although, Lois' house was about 20 minutes down the road.

With tears in Josh eyes, he narrated that he had no place to sleep or even go from here. "Me meeting you, is just God's way of reminding me that He loves me so much because I didn't even know where to go or hide or even what to do" he explained.

Lois paused for a minute and later suggested to let them walk down to her house together.

Twenty minutes later, they had gotten home. Lois narrated a few of what Josh had told her to her parents. They took him in as their own child as Lois is their only child.

Weeks later, Josh was enrolled in a coaching center where he was registered for JAMB and another WAEC. He joined his other colleagues there and went for the exams in a center within the town.

Josh had a very wonderful result for the course he wanted to study which was Medicine. Lois' family had taken all his budget and finances upon themselves.

After five years, Josh had begun his internship since it was a moment of practical experience in his field.

One of the noon at the hospital, he noticed a patient that was rushed in. He tried to follow up and to his uttermost surprise, it was his father.

He had not seen him for close to 7 years. And seeing him that afternoon, in that physical state had gotten him very emotional.

His father was being treated everyday and was responding to treatment.

"Good afternoon, sir" he greeted his father one afternoon but his father couldn't even recognize him. Josh went ahead to introduce himself.

He had thought seeing his father was very emotional but seeing how his father pleaded for forgiveness was even more emotional.

Josh told his father that if God could forgive him, then he also could forgive him. Josh led his father to Christ that same day.

The father was fully recovered and they promised to discharge him the day after. During the father to son discussion was when Josephine and Joan walked into the room.

Josephine apologized and it was another moment of reunion and mixed feelings. Joan couldn't even remember she had a brother.

They all got back together, it was a moment of joy and excitement for everyone.

Two days later, Lois' family came around to pick Mr Alarape and they all left for Mr Johnson's house.

They all prayed, praise God and ate. At the middle of the meal, Lois' dad, Mr Johnson stood up to make a toast.

He further said that there was an announcement he had to make. Everywhere became silent as Mr Johnson gave his speech.

"I am glad for moment like this when we have  overflowing testimony just as the theme of our convention has said. We are happy that Mr Alarape is back to his feet and I want to tell you that my family and I are relocating to the US this weekend. Henceforth, this house belong to Josh and the family. Lastly, I will sponsor Josh till the end of his medical schools" he said as everyone clapped and hugged themselves.

Josh couldn't control his tears that evening and he said to himself
"I was a happy child with many sorrows but God has wiped my tears away and turn my sadness to joy"

The stereo started playing songs as everyone got busy with their food and merriment.

The End

Kindly drop the lessons, observation and questions.

Happy Child Episode 9

HAPPY CHILD (with many sorrows)

Story by O'nezer
Episode 9.

"Yeparipa!! How did you get here" Jacob the rewire guy exclaimed in his slangy Yoruba accent.

"Sir, I need help, don't let the driver know that I sneaked out through this means" Josh pleaded.

The driver had gone to pee on the other side of the fence so the rewire helped him to hide till he was done repairing the Jeep.

"Oga Saburi, I have finished it oh" He said as he handed the car keys over to Saburi.

Saburi drove back to the compound after two hours of staying at the rewire's workshop.

Madam had been looking everywhere for Josh but she couldn't find him. She walked round the compound as Saburi entered with the jeep

"Saburi, where is Josh? Where is he?" she furiously asked, but no one could really answer since no one saw him leave.

That was how Josh escaped from madam Arowosafe and her sexual demands.

Josh looked very pale and tired because of his hiding from one place to another. One day, he mistakenly hit a young lady and she almost fell.

"I am sorry, I am very so..." Josh tried to apologized as he look closely, it was Lois.

"Lois" he said and Lois also called him by name "Josh"

Lois was the one always sitting behind him in their primary school. Lois was a lady brought up in a Christian home and she never joked with the things of God.

"Where are you heading to?" they both asked out of curiosity. "You go first" Josh had requested. She told him that she was going to the church for bible study and asked where Josh was heading to.

Josh couldn't even start the story of how he had been living his life from the last time they saw and now that they met again.

Lois interrupted his thought by reminding him of his mother's death. "I didn't get to be close enough to you back then to greet you about the loss of your mom, I'm really sorry" He thanked her as they kept on walking to the church.

"We are almost at the church" Lois said and then noticed how unkempt and tired Josh was looking.

Josh was so hungry that he wished he could just turn stone to bread because the last meal he had was puff puff and he had even begged for it from the seller in the morning along with sachet water.

Since Josh had no place to go, he decided to follow her down to the church.

The Bible study lasted for about an hour and thirty minutes. An altar call was made that evening and Josh and some others stepped out to pray their way through.

"Thank you Jesus, thank you Lord" Josh had said on his knees. Everyone around him was happy as they saw him shout 'thank you Jesus' repeatedly.

"Congrats Josh, you are now born again and saved from your life of sin" Lois had said with so much joy written over her face.

It was a total turnaround for Josh as he felt the joy that he had never experienced before.

"But where do I go from here?" This was the question that kept running through Josh's mind as people were finding their way out of the Church that evening.

Where will Josh go to?

Happy Child Episode 8

HAPPY CHILD with many sorrows

Story by O'nezer
Episode 8.

"Good morning young man" the round shaped, dark woman with a tiny voice said.

He hurriedly replied "Good morning ma.Good morning"

"You are welcome here, come inside and let's have a chat" she beckoned while she asked every other persons around there to stay outside.

The house was a very big one. In his whole touring round the street, he hadn't seen a house that had such a beautiful structure.

If not careful, a stranger could easily get lost in the house, but he was calm to listen to what the madam had to say.

Josh was shown around, he was introduced to other people in the compound and over the time, he got used to the building and the way they behave around there.

"Madam" was how they always addressed her. So, Josh didn't know her real name.

Madam Arowosafe was a classic woman with so much wealth, properties and shares.
She was in her mid 30 but her baby face made her look even 25.
No one really knew her source of wealth but there was rarely anyone who entered the house to work there that ends up leaving.

They would be getting paid but madam won't let them meet with their family or anyone else.

Then one evening, Madam sent for Josh.
"At least, you've worked here for about 6 months right?" She asked to be sure but Josh replied that 'it has been 8 months that I got here"

Madam was impressed with his sharp memory and she told him that whenever she was impressed, she always compensate every of her staff. It was more like staff bonus that comes once in a while.

Josh was excited about the news but he was still curious to know what the madam was up to.

Madam tried to lead Josh to the room after serving him juice. He was so tipsy and not in his total consciousness.

One thing led to another and before Josh could say Jack Robinson, madam had sex with him. He woke up the following morning seeing a letter on the bed which stated "whatever goes down here must stay here, say it out and die"

He wanted to shout but he lost his voice, he was speechless and he knew that there was fire on the mountain.

The subsequent months were sex-filled for Josh and Madam. Surprisingly, the madam was getting fresh, Josh was getting skinny even though he was feeding well

One afternoon, Josh had thought of how he could just run out of the bondage he had gotten himself into.

'Saburi, come and drive this Jeep to the rewire to help me check what's making sound inside it" madam had commanded.

Saburi drove out of the compound to the rewire's shop.

As the rewire opened the boot of the car. He was left with the biggest surprise of his life.

What did he see?

Happy Child Episode 7

HAPPY CHILD (with many sorrows)

Story by O'nezer
Episode Seven.

"Josh, since we are done with exams, no one can do anything to us again" Kenneth had said

"I have gotten that dry leaf and ground it. So what next" Tayo asked curiously.

Tayo, Kenneth and Josh were the three jolly friends from SS1 till SS3. So, it was easy to execute the plan of dealing with Mr Jide.

It was already getting dark around 6pm, they knew when Mr Jide always use the bathroom outside his room. As he walked into the room to pick his towel that he forgot to pick, when he first came out. Kenneth tipped toed to the bathroom and poured the grinded dried leaf into his bathing water.

As he entered the bathroom, he applied the soap to his hair and he started whistling, before pouring the water on his body.

He didn't feel anything immediately but a minute later, he ran out naked shouting "who did this?"

The boys in the door closeby shouted back "Jesus, oh my God!"

Mr Jide danced so much that he had to be taken to the clinic, minutes later by the gardener, who also helped cover his nakedness by giving him a short.

Red oil was rubbed all over his body. He stayed days in the clinic receiving treatment. When he fully recovered, the shame didn't make him come back to the male hostel for the remaining weeks to the end of the term.

Two weeks after, the school had their usual graduation day. Parent came with different gift, food and other menu to grace the occasion but no one showed up for Josh.

Josh managed to receive two awards as the best student in Biology and Agric Science.

The graduation ended and he had to follow his friends who promised to help him with his load.

The reality of life finally dawned on Josh and he had to think of a faster way to help himself out since help wasn't coming from his family.

School was over and even with the good grades he had in his WAEC, he couldn't afford to get a Jamb form for himself.

Three months later, Josh saw a Vacancy of house help in a street far away from his usual vicinity. He opted for the house help job for his upkeep and other expenses.

He knocked on the gate that afternoon and he was asked to come in.

"Have you ever done this kind of job before?" The man at the gate asked but since he had never done the job before, he didn't want to lie so he had to let him know that he was doing it for the first time.

"We will employ you for your honesty" the man had said as he walked to the main building of the house "Come and resume next week... Hold on, what did you call your name again?"

"Josh... Josh Alarape" he replied with excitement.

He couldn't hide his joy that day as he was walking faster home. His sleep that day was different as he was counting down to the days he had left under the roof of his father and step mother.

Minutes to hours and hours to days. The day for him to resume finally arrived. He had left home very early that morning so he could meet up.

He got to the house by 7:45am and the man he had met the last time told him to wait at the gate for the madam of the house who will give him his full job description.

Few minutes later, the madam came around and that was the beginning of another journey for Josh.

Happy Child Episode 6

HAPPY CHILD (with many sorrows)

Story by O'nezer
Episode Six.

"Mr Jide will now be the new House Master for the whole male hostel" the principal announced.

Mr Jide was just an average height, fair, young unmarried man who dresses so well and catchy to the eye that you couldn't walk pass him without looking him twice.

Everyone in the school knew that Mr Jide was someone who didn't  care about anything anyone would say, no one dared question him too.

"How did he become the principal's favorite?" one of the students muttered.
"Maybe because of his dress sense" one other student interrupted.

Josh moved to his hostel and he kept on relating with his roommate trying to put the unfair treatment he got from home behind him

The second week of resumption, Dare resumed again and this time around, the family promised to withdraw him if he fails again. So this time around, he was ready to give his best at whatever it cost.

The term was going faster than anyone could imagine, but there was this unexplainable attitude and uneasiness around Mr Jide that no one could place.

Once he woke them up around 5:30am in the morning for morning devotions and other activities.

He was always calling the boys in one after the other at different intervals till the day he walked to the block G.

"Which of you is Josh?" He tried asking while Josh raised his hand from the window with his friends. "I am the one sir" before Josh could finish replying, he instructed him to come and see him before they go for evening prep.

Josh couldn't place what the meeting was about but he agreed to go and see him.

A few minutes past 6, Josh walked down to Mr Jide's room but from outside, Josh was hearing a sound like someone groaning in pain. The moment Josh knocked the door, Mr Jide shouted "In Jesus name we pray, Amen!"

"Come in, the door isn't locked" Mr Jide told Josh. He tried to ask what he could offer him but he said he was fine because he just finished taking golden morn after finishing his assignment.

Josh was naive not to have known the sound he was hearing wasn't that of groaning from pain, but Mr Jide trying to relief himself and moaning out loud

Mr Jide locked the door from the back and ask Josh to have his seat. Josh did and was still trying to figure out what the meeting is all about.

Suddenly, Mr Jide pounced on him but he couldn't still understand what was going on till Mr Jide pulled Josh trousers down. He forced him to face down and he forced himself on Josh, although he tried to fight Mr Jide but his strength couldn't not push him away.

Josh started bleeding since all he had ever pictured in his life was that the anus is being used for excreting and not anything else. He managed to leave the room but what Mr Jide said stuck with him-"if I hear a word... If I hear this out, just know that you are dead" He further warned him "anytime you see me, you must wear a happy face".

Josh cried bitterly as he walked out of the masters' room. He went to the first aid and lied to them that he was reacting to excess intake of sugar and so was bleeding through his anus.

He was treated but he couldn't get over the trauma of being raped by his house master. He couldn't tell anyone and the family was so busy now that no one came around to check him.

The next holiday after this incident, he tried talking to his father and step mother but no one was listening as all attention had been shifted to Joan the new baby girl.

One of the night that Josh was trying to get his step mother's attention, she said "I wasn't the one that killed your mother, you cannot kill me" that left him more heart broken.

He couldn't perform better in school again and every session, he was been promoted on trial till he got to SS3.

He was carrying this pain around and he was still wearing a happy face because as long as Mr Jide was still in that school, he must never talk about it.

Mr Jide didn't stop with Josh, he had spoilt a large number of the student as he was never satisfied. Both female and male student were wearing a happy mask with their pain behind it.

One afternoon, Josh and his friends came up with a plan on how to deal with Mr Jide.

How did they do that?

Happy Child Episode 5

HAPPY CHILD (with many sorrows)

Story by O'nezer
Episode Five.

"Josh, what are you looking for here" he repeatedly asked as he was finding his way out of the building.

"I just wanted to be sure if you have collected your result and I want to tell you goodbye. My dad is waiting for me." Josh rushed his word like someone who had hot yam in his mouth.

Josh passed almost all his papers but Dare had to repeat again.

When Dare received his result, he discovered that he had to repeat JSS2 for the third time. He couldn't even think of anything better to do and so resorted to killing himself in an uncompleted building by taking a powdery substance that could not be traced
All through Josh's journey home, he couldn't get over the thought of seeing what Dare was about to do when he stumbled on him inside the building.

The journey back home lasted for about an hour and thirty minutes.

His father had told him about his new baby sister that was at home. Josh couldn't hide his excitement of meeting his baby sister.

"Mom, what's my sisters name?" Josh had asked with so much joy all written over him.

"Her name is Joan" Josephine had replied. She requested him to go and change then have this lunch.

Two weeks after Josh got back from school, he was enrolled to the nearby holiday coaching to keep him on track towards the new session ahead.

Days kept rolling by and the holiday was winding off already, but the attention that Josh was always getting from everyone when it was only him had reduced drastically.

He was feeling the space of his dead mother and the unavailability of the father. There was an evening when he thought he would meet food at home after declining a dinner offer at his friends place.

"Mom, what are we taking for dinner?" He asked but the reply he got left him wondering why the father married this woman.
"Open your mouth to the breeze and drink water to it" she replied sarcastically.

When the holiday was over and it was time to go back to school for new session. They gave him just a little money and promised to come back to pay his school fees.

He left for school with his old notes, old uniform and since every student stayed in one hostel for two session, it automatically meant he was staying in the same block he was while in JS2.
Everything was going to be former! Former notes, Former uniform! Former hostel!

He left for school the following Sunday but on getting to school, he couldn't believe what he heard.

Happy Child Episode 4

Happy Child (with many sorrows)

Story by O'nezer
Episode Four

"Is this where I am going to stay" he said quietly to himself.
--
The room was all stuffy and small as they put 6 people in each rooms. Hardly will you have a walking space between those bunks.

Josh was coming from a comfortable place as he had a room to himself at home even though it was her mother's room.

A tall, dark guy welcomed him and showed me my space "Welcome, my name is Dare, what's yours?"

"I am Josh... Josh Alarape"

Josh realised that Dare was in JSS2 and he is going to be his bunk mate.

Their friendship was growing day by day that they were known from hostel to hostel that they were that inseparable.

Although Dare was only in JS 2, but he has been in school for 4 years now as he repeated JSS1 and passed the second time but JS2 couldn't be better as he is in JSS2 the second time. He isn't the serious type academically but a very creative young boy

At a point, the class teacher who noticed the 'five-and-six friendship' between Dare and Josh warned him to be careful but he wasn't listening.

He had found a brother and friend even everything in Dare and no one will be able to separate them.

Josh dad came around on of the Saturdays to visit him. There was a visiting day for the student were parent come around to check their children. Josh dad had missed several ones but he made it up this time around

"Josh, how have you been and how's studies?" the father had asked and he answered "fine, just fine dad". His father was impressed while going through his subject note books.

He dipped his hand in his pocket and hand him over a 100 naira note. Josh couldn't hide his excitement "thank you dad."

"I will love to see the principal before going" the father said as he walks away and bid his son goodbye.

Josh walked back to his block and the father walk down to the principal's office which was directly facing the gate.

"Good afternoon Mr Alarape, its good to see you again" he greeted as he pointed his hand for a shake. "Please, have you seat" the principal offered.

"I hope Josh is doing so fine academically and morally, sir" he curiously asked the principal.

He was told that his son had been doing very well as he was also part of the leading 5 in class.
"His first and second term result is quite impressive" the principal had said and Mr Alarape couldn't have been more proud than he was when he heard that his son was doing just fine.

Not long from then, the examination started and many student did well, but a few numbers of them did not do well.

On the Valedictory service of the school, the best students were awarded and many parent were present to celebrate and cheer their children up.

Josh wasn't excluded from those that were awarded for overall best student of his class. The father was really happy and the step mother couldn't make it as she now have a baby girl not long from that time and it won't be easy carrying the baby for that long journey.

Pictures were taken, menu were shared and everyone to their various house and those whose houses were far and outskirt were lodged in the school guest house and those who couldn't get space there were shared in the teachers lodge so they can wait to take their children home the next day.

In one of the announcement by the principal, he said all student should come for their result on the next day which happened to be Friday and the school long vacation will start.

On the Friday morning, most students were set with their luggage for the long holiday.

As everyone was getting their result. Some excited, some were lost and speechless while most couldn't share their result with anyone.

Josh was looking for Dare but couldn't find him till someone asked him to go and check the uncompleted building behind the female toilet.

He got there and found the most shocking thing.

"Daare!" Josh exclaimed

"Josh, what are you looking for?" He asked while trying to hide away.

Happy Child Episode 3

HAPPY CHILD (with many sorrows)

Story by O'nezer
Episode Three

The service of songs and wake keep was done on a Friday night while family and friends rallied round at Mr Alarape's compound.

Many good words were said by people about his late wife's character and how she could go at any length to help both friends and strangers.

"She's the reason why my son is still in school." A woman had said as she dabbed the tears from her eyes.

The church minister led the closing song and prayed for the family as everyone left the compound still talking about the godly attitude of Mrs Alarape.

It was the following Saturday morning and the burial started at mid day. Everyone was surprise to see the number of people that turned up for the burial just because Mrs Alarape was a woman that was worth celebrating and emulating.

The burial ended and different people made a promise to help the family one way and the other.

"Josh will be placed on scholarship till he leaves primary school." The Headmistress of Bethel School had said.

Mr Alarape couldn't hide his excitement amidst tears, as everyone rallied round to cheer him up.

Days rolled to weeks, weeks to months and months to year.

Josh was doing so fine with his studies and even when Miss Josephine his former class teacher in primary 4 was no longer his teacher, she still took it upon herself to always take Josh home and stick around the family.

Within that same year, it was no surprise that Mr Alarape was the kind of man that his spirituality and interest in church activities wasn't as much as the wife. Even over time, it was more like the wife making him get involved with church and its members.

The visit, care and attention that Mr Alarape was getting from Miss Josephine had grown so much now that Mr Alarape was beginning to consider taking Miss Josephine in as a new wife to help heal emotionally and psychologically.

In one of their conversations one night, Mr Alarape had said to Josephine, "you always remind me of my late wife."

In no time, Mr Alarape made his intentions known and Miss Josephine declined for a while until one evening when she gave him a yes and they started planning on settling down together.

It was a mixed feelings for Josh as he was excited that dad was getting a new wife but he still couldn't get anyone to fill the vacuum of his mom since he had grown so used to his mom.

Miss Josephine wasn't a total stranger to him because she has been his teacher for a long while now before she became the class teacher for his class as well.

Josh was done with primary school and the father would love him school nearby where he could be monitored but Josephine suggested that he should be sent to boarding school which she felt was good for him.

After long deliberation and consideration, Josh wentvto have his common entrance exams done in Robert College in the neighboring town to where Mr Alarape lives.

Robert College was one of the best school around the town. The school runs both day and boarding.

Holiday was finally over and it was time for Josh to resume. He was excited about the fact that he was resuming Junior secondary and also getting to meet new friends.

Mr Alarape and Josephine escorted him down to the school. They made the other enquiries and made payment for the school fees, hostel fees and other fees.

Josh bade them goodbye with tears in eyes. It was an emotional moment as they all went their separate ways that day.

"This is block G your hostel and the bunk close to the wall is yours." the Porter had said.

What Josh set his eyes on immediately he entered left him shocked and confused.

What did Josh see?

Watch out for what next.

Happy Child Episode 2

Happy Child (With Many Sorrows)

Episode Two

Miss Josephine knocked on the door to the Head Mistress's office. She waited until she heard her bid in.

"Please, come in, the door isn't locked." The Headmistress replied.

The Head Mistress, Mrs Ajanaku, an old fair in complexion, tall Yoruba woman. She was strict but not difficult to approach.

"Good afternoon ma, I hope I didn't check in at the wrong time?" She asked.

"Not at all, I hope there is no problem?" She asked, concern in her voice.

"There is, but I don't know how to even go about it, ma!" Mrs Josephine said, her voice shaking .

"Talk to me. What's the problem?" Mrs Ajanaku pestered to know what was going on.

"I received a call about five minutes ago from Mr Alarape, he told me that he lost the wife and won't be able to come to school to pick Josh." Miss Josephine explained.

"Oh Jesus! That woman... Oh!" Mrs Ajanaku exclaimed and placed her head on the table.

"What are we going to do now?" The Headmistress asked to know what should be done, but they were both clueless.

Miss Josephine broke the silence "Let's call the school driver to take boy home after school."

The Head mistress placed a call to the father to inform him that the boy will be handed over to the driver to bring him home while the teachers will meet to know what next.

Josh Alarape was also one of the brilliant boys in Primary 4A and he celebrated his 8 year old birthday a few weeks ago.

Minutes rolled to hours and it was closing time.

Cars were trooping in to pick their kids. Some came around to pick their kids with motorbike, while some students went with the school bus.

Teachers were always waiting for the closing time briefing to summarize the work of the day. Submission of teaching materials and the likes.

All teachers were gathered in the open space close to the Headmistress office and the meeting started briefly.

"Good afternoon everyone." Mrs Ajanaku, greeted.

Everyone chorused the reply back "Good afternoon ma."

"Today is a sad day for me as we got a call from Josh's father some hours ago about the demise of his mother."

Everyone started mumbling. Some started to cry and those who were speechless stood gazing at nothing in particular.

"This death isn't fair." One of the Teachers said.

The Headmistress interrupted the cacophony of muffled tears. "Let's have one minute silence for the deceased." They all stood up and observed the minute.

The Headmistress further suggested that two teachers will be sent to the boys house to represent the school and know what they may be needing.

Everyone left the school compound talking and making comments on how good the woman was and the family.

****

In Mr Alarape's house.

The teachers entered the gate and saw people around the compound wailing, crying and dabbing their faces with different wrapper, face towel, tissues and so on. They approached a young man who was standing close to the door.

"Good evening sir, we are from Josh's school and we are here to..." Before they could finish what they were saying, someone from the room requested them to come in which they did.

"We're so sorry for the loss sir. May God console the family and uphold you sir." Mr Pade, one of the teachers said.

After staying for few minutes, they requested to take their leave and Mr Alarape said he was grateful.

He also told them to excuse Josh from school for the rest of the week because the burial was set to be done the following week.

HAPPY CHILD Episode 1

Happy Child (with many sorrows)

Story by O'nezer

Episode One

"Gbagaun! Gbagaun! 'Break time" a tall dark boy in a well ironed uniform stood in front of the class pavement to jingle the bell.

The break time was always from 12:00pm to 12:30 and this day wasn't different. All the pupils rushed out of their various classes. Those who wanted to buy food rushed to the food vendor while others that were eager to go on the playground found their way there.

Bethel Nursery and Primary School is one of the best school in the area, and even high-income families would rather send their kids to that school than any other school around.

There was also an open field very close to the car parking lot. Some of the boys would go there to play football, some doing the catcher game while some of the girls jumped rope.

"John, are you not going for break?" the class teacher asked John, who was the only one left in the class.

John was one of the bookworms and gentle kids in Primary 4. He was the last child of Mr and Mrs Adegbenro. Everything was given to satisfy him and he was been treated like a special child.

"No ma, I brought my food from home." John replied calmly.

"Alright. Enjoy your meal." the teacher said as she walked out the door to the opposite class.

Few minutes later, the break was over and everyone was back to their various classes.

"Good afternoon ma, you are welcome to Primary 4A. God bless you ma! Amen" the pupils chorused, affirming their prayer by themselves.

"You may have your seat." Miss Josephine ordered.

Miss Josephine, an unmarried, light skinned woman in her mid 30's. She was the class teacher who taught them 5 subjects.

She entered the class with their dictation note and started complaining on the number of students in their class who they had hope to present for the common entrance had failed dictation.

"I can't believe that out of 35 pupils in this class, only 15 people did well!" She exclaimed.

"Let's do the correction. Kingsley share this book." She said as she turned to the chalk board to write the correction.

A few seconds later, her phone started ringing. She wondered who could be calling her by that time of the noon. She moved closer to the bag but before she could answer her phone, the call went off.

"Wos, the person will call back jere." She said in a whisper as she continued writing on the board.

The phone started ringing again. She picked this time!

"Hello... Good afternoon sir. Yes, this is Bethel Nursery and Primary School... Yes sir, I'm with you... Jesus, when? Oh God!" She dropped the call.

"Let me just write the right answers on the board, correct it all in your book and bring it back to the staff room." She said as she hurried out of the class.

Immediately she headed straight to the Head-Mistress's office.
