Beyond the shade. Episode 7- finale

BEYOND THE SHADE
Episode 7- Finale.
Story by O'nezer

I slowly walked down to the room that I saw everyone running to.

"Aunty, is that the madam?" I asked to confirm.

Madam Adeniwura was very beautiful. From her looks, she should be in her mid forty's.

She was coughing so loudly and the sound was very scary. She was coughing like that because the time that she was supposed to be given the renewal blood had almost passed and still had not gotten the blood.

Inability to drink the blood would lead to her death, based on what Mr Tunde said.

"I know of a blood that can help Madam" I said not knowing where the confidence came from.

I continued "this blood is ever active and never failing" all eyes were now on me.

"Wetin this pikin dey talk, you wan dey whine us abi?" one of the guy interrupted, but Mr Tunde shut him up and asked me to continue.

"The blood is the one that I drink whenever I'm in trouble or find myself in situations beyond control and my parent always tell me that this blood is available anywhere and every day" before I could finish that, everyone has moved back a bit with mixture of fear and disbelief.

I concluded with "if you want the blood, what to do isn't hard. Just say after me, Lord Jesus..."

I noticed a change in tone and someone hissed "na so so Jesus matter she wan yan self..." One of the guy said and they started walking out one after the other.

"Guy make we listen to wetin she wan talk na" one of them reluctantly suggested, but they left and now we were just 4 left out of 10 people that we got in together.

Mr Tunde, Madam Adeniwura, Aunty Bukola and Prince who had changed his name to Perimeter.

I introduced them to the blood that can never lose its power. Madam Adeniwura started gasping and we all gathered around again but to my greatest surprise she started shouting "blood of  Jesus" repeatedly.

She was feeling much better and Mr Tunde suggested we took Madam to the hospital to have her checked up and placed on the right medication, but it was late in the night already when he made the suggestion.

They concluded on going very early on Sunday morning.

"Wake up, let's go" I felt a tap on my back. I stood up and followed them but as we were about stepping out of the house, what we saw was shocking.

We saw a police van outside the gate and with my guesses, quite a number of police and had been placed around the house.

"Hands up everyone" one of the police said.

"Help, help... Somebody help" Mr Tunde shouted.

But before any help could be rendered, Madam Adeniwura was dead and this made everyone cold, but my question was- 'how did police get to this place?'

Aunty Bukola followed the guys out when they wanted to take Uncle Musa away. She pleaded with one of the guys that had a crush on her.

They showed uncle Musa the way and he was the one that found his way back home and brought the Police men along with Sandra's family.

Mom was looking so pale and I could see worry all over dad's face. It was indeed the longest weekend in my life.

I can boldly say that Jesus power is super power and his blood is ever saving. No matter how far you might have gone away, He's ready to save and take you back.

This is what happened to me about 15 years ago and I'm happy to share my testimony on this program 'Beyond the Shade as I also celebrate my 25th birthday today. To God be the glory."

The moderator interrupted "Until next time you join us on this real life and life changing, educative and informative program, stay tuned with us and stay blessed. Join us same time, same station"

Beyond the shades. Episode 6

BEYOND THE SHADE
Story by O'nezer

Episode 6

At about 11am that morning, we  heard a knock on the door. Again. I still imagine why they always knocked seeing we were being held hostage.

And even though i knew we were in a dangerous situation, I was getting hungry and growing tired as each moment passed. I secretly wished aunt Bukola was at the door and hopefully she brought us food and have thought of a way to help us out of the house.

I could see fear written over Uncle Musa's face. He walked reluctantly to the door and opened it. He gasped, rather too loudly.

"Thank goodness!" He whispered.

I looked up and guess who was there... Aunty Bukola!

I was so excited. Aunty, has I knew best to address anyone older than I was, brought us food - garnished noodles and yogurt.

I was thinking Aunty Bukola would tell us how to get out of here as she promised, but the news she brought to us further broke my heart.

"They knew I was here last night and it was frowned upon." She said calmly.

The news instantaneously made me lose my appetite. I had just 3 spoons and left the rest.

About two and half hours that baba had gone and as time went by, everywhere seemed scarier  than before, and since we had no clue of what was going to happen to us, we just followed every instruction.

As we waited, different thoughts going through our minds, there was a knock at the door. When uncle Musa opened the door, it was the guy that came in earlier with the scarf to blindfold us.

"Mr, let's go and this time around, I pray you come back alive." The huge guy said.

He tied our face again and led us through the way. This time, we were asked to sit and not kneel like the first time.

Baba started with his songs and later started chanting, this taking about thirty minutes.

After that, Baba requested that they should take Uncle Musa away. "Remember the sacrifice requires the blood of a young girl, so take this man back. There is no room for delay again because we have to do the renewal today, if not..." Baba said angrily.

"We all know what happens if a renewal isn't done every three months." I heard, but I still couldn't comprehend what needed to be renewed and why.

I sensed uncle Musa had been taken away and I was left with Baba and a few other people in the room.

Baba asked one of the guy to remove the blindfold. To my greatest surprise, it was Mr Tunde.

He was equally as shocked as I was. That took me back to why the HM said 'he had better flee.'

"Guys, you picked the wrong girl. Now I know why all the sacrifice and all wasn't working on her." He said with an hint of shame in his voice.

"Look, I know who she is, and I have always known Sandra as quite different from other pupils that I have been sending to Madam Adeniwura."

**********************

Madam Adeniwura. She was one of the rich and well known woman in the outskirt of the town. Everyone had assumed and associated her source of wealth with her presumable hardwork.

Unknown to others, Madam acquired her wealth through a blood renewal plan which required the use of girls between the ages seven to eleven.

Mr Tunde's father died a year ago and he believed in his father's work, and that was why he made both teaching and his father's work a part time job.

****
Before anyone could say anything else, I asked where Uncle Musa was and after Baba nudged one of the guys to speak, I was told he had been killed. I couldn't believe it. Rapidly, tears flowed down my cheeks, but before I could burst out crying, we heard a shout from one of the rooms.

"What's going on?" Baba said. Everyone looked equally confused as they all rushed towards one of the rooms, leaving the teary-eyed me.

What happened?

Beyond the shade Episode 5

BEYOND THE SHADE
(Episode 5)
Story by O'nezer

Initially, we were hearing a sound faintly from a distance, but it kept getting closer to us. When I checked the clock on the wall in the room, it was already morning as the time was 6:45am.

"What's that sound uncle?" I asked with fear.

The sound of music coming from the place we assumed to be the sitting room was now scary.

Some minutes later, someone came knocking at the door. We weren't sure whether to be happy or sad. It was actually a mixed feelings of 'thank God we are leaving and that of leaving that house alive.'

Uncle Musa gathered the confidence to open the door. It was a new guy that we hadn't seen the day before.

He was wearing a dark polo that revealed his well- built muscles. If he attempted to carry me with his big palm, I would look like tissue in his hand.

He entered the room and asked Uncle Musa to kneel down. I was getting scared as those words from the guy that said everyday won't be Christmas here was coming to my mind.

He brought us a white scarf-like cloth and he covered my eyes and that of Uncle Musa and instructed us to follow him immediately.

We were being directed as we both couldn't see where we were being taken to.

I couldn't see the time to know how long we've been blindfolded, but by assumption, It was nothing less than 30 minutes.

"Madam is here now" one of the guys said and we could feel the sound which made it more obvious that the house wasn't only big but so many people were working in it.

As they continued discussing, we heard them talking about a baba that was on his way down there, but had to attend to one or two things which was the reason for his delay.

Some minutes later, someone came around to announce the presence of the long expected baba.

Baba entered and he saw us kneeling with our blindfold. A lot of questions were running through my mind but the only thing I could do was to keep praying and reminding God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. I remembered that He that watches over us never sleeps nor slumbers.

I've heard my parents pray that before and it was quite easy to repeat their words of prayer in my present state.

My parent had always told me that God hears and answers prayer not minding our status or whatnot.

Baba was saying  some unfamiliar words and as a little child, I was not sure I could even guess what baba was trying to say.

"Madam, don't worry, we will do the renewal perfectly and you will live longer than your forefathers" baba confidently assured whoever the Madam was.

After several attempts on saying some words and feeling baba's movement around us. We realised that Baba was acting strange and somewhat furious and he kept on saying "I hope these ones here are not the forbidden ones."

After several attempts, "it's like it's not working" Baba whispered.

"Baba, you sure say no be you dey fake am" one of the guy interrupted but before he could finish his statement, we heard a sound like a fall.

"Go and throw his body in the canal behind the compound" Baba said.

I had never been more scared in my life at that instant.

"How could someone fall and die instantly just because he dared Baba" I thought.

"This baba must be powerful" I muttered but the only song that came to my mind that moment was the song they taught us at children's church "Jesus power, super power..." I kept on singing it silently.

'Let us take a break, I will come back in 3 hours time to retry but by then, I'm coming with double of what I came with" Baba said as he walked out of the house.

We were returned back to our room and that was when they opened our eyes again.

What happened after this?

Beyond the shade. Episode 4

BEYOND THE SHADE
(Episode 4)
Story by O'nezer

"Open up!" the male voice said again, knocking vigorously.

Bukola paced around the room. All of us crippled with fear of knowing she shouldn't be in our room at that time of the day. She was already acting and thinking out in whispers on what to say or where to hide.

"Aunty, the wardrobe is big enough for you to hide and not be caught" I quickly suggested.

Without thinking twice, she gave me a quiet hi five and gently walked into and closed the wardrobe that was firmly built close to the wall.

Uncle Musa walked towards the door and checked through the heyhole just like he did the first time, but this time it was definitely a man.

Uncle Musa opened the door and the guy entered the room with a towel in this right and a blanket on the other hand.

"Everyday no be Christmas and na first night go always sweet pass." He said and handed the towel and blanket to me.

He walked a bit close to the wardrobe but uncle Musa created a scene by shedding crocodile tears and he requested the new guy to please set us free so we can go home. The new guy hissed and left the room. Immediately, Uncle Musa went straight to the door and locked it.

"It's getting late already and I have to go now, no one must come back and meet me here again." Bukola said hurriedly as she stepped out of the wardrobe.

She looked through the hole and tried to be sure that none of the other house workers was around to see her walk out the room. She walked out and uncle Musa and I were left alone in the room. Everywhere was as silent as the graveyard and only the sound of the wall clock was so loud that the person next room could hear it.

"Try to sleep Sandra, let's just keep praying we get out of this place alive." Uncle Musa said calmly.
Although I always had the belief that there was always a reason for everything and God won't watch His own suffer in the hands of the evil people, I was a bit scared.

"Uncle, but I have something I want to ask you. I don't know if you will tell me." I asked silently.

"Go ahead, if it is something I can definitely answer, I sure will." Uncle Musa assured me.

"Where do you know that aunty from?" I asked.

"It's a long story but i'll tell you a short version. So about Bukola," he adjusted. "She's someone I met some years ago, but never thought we could ever see again. You know, life can be very funny and it can always bring people back together" Uncle Musa said as he now turned his face to me.

"I met Bukola when she was posted to H.I.S for her National Youth Service. She was everything a man could ask for in a woman and though she looked so young and innocent, I felt I could have her as my wife."

"Bukola was serving at a primary school where I worked as the school bus Driver. I was quite young also and I had enough money I could spend on her and even give her a big wedding if she wanted. But she saw me as an ordinary Driver and my looks couldn't speak for me before her." Uncle Musa said and turned to me.

"I won't bore you with details of the story. I'll go straight to the point." he continued, but my eyes were heavy and Uncle Musa could see that.

"Let's sleep. I'll tell you everything tomorrow." He said.

The next morning being a Saturday, something was going on in the building and that was what woke us up.
