BUT Episode 10

 Episode 10

The conversation was getting so deep as they moved from one person. Nobody was even conscious of the time because Deborah's story alone had taken a part of the  time.

"Royal Mill is one of the renowned companies in town and the competition of getting employed in that organisation is much. At a point, if you don't know anyone, you may not get a post of clerical staff not to talk of secretary or personal assistant"

"Is that so?" Beatrice asked

"Yes I guess my dad said something in that line" Deborah added.

"The company was doing so well and the managers always paid rapt attention to every movement within and outside the company. All deliverables were timely delivered with accuracy and figures were rounded in a way that you may not need to look at it twice before knowing"

"But how do you know this much about the organisation?" Beatrice asked

"Wait na, later you will say I'm the inquisitive one oo" Selina said

"We all know that you are the one here with plenty question and wanting to know more and more" Beatrice playfully said

"Oya sha continue what you are saying" Deborah suggested.

"Anyways, I will still come back to how I know all this but as I was saying, the company was doing so well until one time like that when the money going out was more than the one coming in. The company's school was like the backbone left and the company started running at loss"

"The board came together to think on the way out, while some people suggested that  they should sack 70% staff and employ people with lesser experience that will be attracted to a small pay. Another person also suggested they reduce the salary of the permanent staff by half"

"Investigations team and panel were set to check through some of the major issues that may be hindering the progress of the organisation and it was figured out that the finance team and the lead for advertising and marketing departments started giving less of the results and reports. Figures were no longer accurate because they felt like they needed to make extra money from the company despite their fat salaries. When the truth was found, they sent everyone off, all company properties within their jurisdiction were returned and recovered. From the housing to car and many other things"

"At a point when things were rather not getting any better, the company started looking for how to sell the company and then retain the staff school. After so much deliberation and consideration, they sold the company off"

"Every staff was laid off, the only unfair part was just when they said they could no longer allow any staff to put their children in the school for half pay or free any more. It's either you pay the full school fees or you take your children to a government school where you pay little or no amount of money"

"The whole decisions from selling the company off to sending the staff student away was all that affected me and my family" Deborah reminded them

"Yes that's true, this part that Selina talked about is what gave us the detailed insight of why staff were laid off in that company" Beatrice added.

"But that single decision was the life changing decision for me and my siblings," Selina added.

"Life changing? As how?" Deborah asked out of curiosity.
